First grade is such an exciting year! Students really start to gain independence in first grade. The students begin the year reading words and short sentences, and by the end of the school year they are confidently reading books independently! The first grade Bible curriculum is very hands-on in nature and helps to enhance a solid relationship with Christ. The first graders learn concepts like addition, subtraction, and money in math, and they engage in STEM activities with second grade on Friday afternoons! They are also taught social studies and science units in hands-on and interactive ways. The first graders are taught to pray independently and how to have their own personal relationship with God. We love it here in first grade!
