Pre-Kindergarten

Four and five year old are always showing off their new skills!  They are incredibly funny, and their new language, physical, and social skills are always a delight!  They are maturing and able to work out their social conflicts with one another more smoothly.  They are preparing for the Kindergarten experience by growing spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.  To be eligible for Pre-K, a child must be 4 years old by September 1st of the given school year.

Pre-K has breakfast, two snacks, and lunch included daily.  No additional food needs to be brought in.  The exception is Lunch Box Day.  On Lunch Box Days, your child will bring his/her own lunch.

activities in this room

Pre-K is so busy!  Joyful noise fills the room throughout the day.  Their learning centers have 9 areas to choose from, twice per day!  Pre-K's management system encourages the children to problem solve as they see that only 3 children can play in each area.  Circle times are more involved than last year, incorporating additional letter sounds, action songs, dictation of children's' words and show and tell.  During the year, they are exposed to a letter each week in a hands-on manner and are given the opportunity to begin to form letters, write names, and dig deep into the sounds of words.  The program in Pre-K is the next step after Preschool Peace, with activities experienced on a deeper level and with more choices within each area.  Many children in Pre-K typically move to Kindergarten the next school year.

Pre-K love to express their love for Jesus!  They talk about Him, sing chapel songs, and are always lifting their little cares to Him.  They participate in our weekly chapel on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m.  All children participate in chapel, which includes a missionary offering, praise and worship, and an interactive Bible lesson!  It is our desire that your child experience Jesus all day long every day at Calvary!
