Teacher: Mrs. Sarah McCann

Fifth grade has many new and exciting milestones throughout the year.  Each day they start off by focusing on God’s Word and reviewing a weekly Scripture verse.  Students are taught to look at the world with a biblical perspective.  Fifth graders learn how to write a research paper and give a formal presentation.  They also learn to make large strides in math, for example, they learn to multiply and divide fractions.  In addition, students work in literacy groups and complete four stimulating novels.  Lastly, students “travel the world” by studying World Geography.  One of the main goals for a fifth grade student is to grow over the course of the year and to easily transition from elementary into middle school.  This goal is accomplished by students being challenged and encouraged daily to live like Christ and become more responsible well-rounded students.
